Default noise after swapping ring and pinion

well after my mishap last week at the track,I decided to put a new ring and pinion in the IROC. I got it in it drives well but i am getting a noise like the sound that you would get if your front wheel bearings were on they're way out. any ideas?BTW for all of you that didn't make it out to sunshine speedway last wed,I was the black iroc clanging down the track.Hell of a launch though

Did you do this your self or have someone else do it? Gear setup requires that tolerances be precise or you will have noise or a trashed gear set. If these are Richmond gears and the whine is not very loud this is fairly normal for richmonds. If you are not sure that they are setup correctly try Allens Gear Works.

Like was said above Richmond gears tend to whine a little. If it isn't a whine your hearing and it's more like a grinding sound you might have a problem. Did you replace the crush sleeve? If you did, you might have to take it back to your friend and make sure it's still tight. Sometimes they don't crush all the way and need to be checked. If that's ok you could have a bad pinion bearing. There are a number of things it could be.
