Here's something that I googled for you.

Lockers, Limited Slips and other Differentials Explained

A full spool is a type of differential. It will lock both axles together for maximum traction. Handling and turning radius will be hampered but if you want to track the car a full spool is cheap and gets the job done.

here is a spool. both ends of your axles slide in the ends of this. then the ring gear bolts to the out side. its a solid rear end.

It is. But when you weld it you can still break the differential or welds from shock and destroy the rear end. It all depends on what you want do as far getting a spool, locker or posi.

how much money do have? Thats the key. A spool is a lot cheaper than a locker , but a locker is more street friendly. Any reputable tranny shop can install a trans brake

If you want to track the car and want to run the streets with it do not weld it lol just get the spool or the locker. its not worth screwing up your diff in the long run
