I currently have a Centerforce clutch that is giving me a load of shit & I need a new clutch. Im not sure what kind to get or where to get it from. Im trying to spend as little $$ as possible but I dont really want a stock clutch nor do I want another Centerforce.

My clutch is getting pretty bad Im redlining @ approx 90-95 mph in 5th gear.

Lemme know if you have any opinions on that subject...

http://www.camaroz28.com/messagebd/index.html

go to camaroz28.com and do a search for it. u prob dont remember but i talked to u on aim b4 and told u not to get centerforce again they specialize in ford and dont hold up too well in f-bodies. i recommend a McCleod or Spec clutch if the price is not an issue and u plan on more mods. if price is an issue and u dont plan on many more mods u shouldbe fine with a stock lt4 setup or SLP clutch. later

Hey Erika... I recently had some clutch problems.. Erik is right about centerforce. After 6 months of research I found that they had the most negative feed back or the least positive. My bro uses Centerforce and loves it.. go figure. When searching for a clutch thats how you have to determine which one you want.. I went with a Spec Stage III and I blew it out of my car at about 80mph power shifting into 3rd. It was do to reusing the old flywheel to pressure plate bolts.
Spec has the best customer service no question.
I run an LT4 clutch. My Z puts over 300 to the ground in hp and torque. Holds just fine. What mods do you have on your car?
I paid 295 for this brand new LT4 clutch. Designed originally for the grand sport corvette. I can give you the number.. if you want.

Yeah Im gonna need a new flywheel too the one I have has been turned a couple of times...

My mods:

Aries forged aluminum racing pistons
373 rear
K&N ported cold air intake
ported & polished heads
Hurst short throw shifter
Hooker catback exhaust
Frame connectors
NOS nitrous kit 100 shot wet
Plus this lousy centerforce...

I plan on getting a new cam & ignition as well.

Hmmm... with your mods teh LT4 clutch might not be enough... My experience with clutches is that the GM clutchs LT1 and LT4 have no problem other than slipping when a vehicle has a lot of horsepower and torque. More than 450 at the fly could make this LT4 clutch slip. It might hold it might not.. I think i still have a number to a clutch vendor in Texas who custom makes clutch disks to fit your application. All ive heard was good things about this guy. I talked to him on the phone and hes very knowledgeable about clutches.
Do you know exactly how much hp and torque u put to the ground?
ill give u some phone numbers when i get back to my house.

This is the contact to the guy in Texas. His Name is Richard. Tell him what mods you have and what kind of feel you want for your car and he can make your clutch. I think hes the only one who doesnt use the LT4 pressure plate. McLoed centerforce spec and all the others use the LT4 pressure plate.

Carolina Clutch Carries LT4 clutchs for $295. Cheapest Ive found. I forget the guys name but the head guy who deals with f-bodys and vettes really knows his stuff too.. Dont bother talking to one of the sales guys unless u know exactly what u want.

Sam Taylor Buick- They have the lowest price on the LT4 hot cam and some GM parts. I dont think they have the lowest price on the flywheels though. Ask for Jason in the parts department
