again, its not that easy... You will need a Vaccum advance distributor, the correct linkage for kickdown, Im not sure if your cam is capable of operating a mechanical fuel pump or if you block is casted closed for the fuel pump. So there is that possibilty of running a Holley red pump to feed the carb, but then you have to tune the carb.

Does it still sound like a simple swap? Drivabilty the TBI is going to win hands down compared to a carb's tempramental attitude. A TBI setup also makes more torque then a carb will. So its a win/lose compramise, If you want more power out of your 305 cheap, sell your intake and carb and buy a set of 58cc vortec heads, aftermarket intake for the TBI with the vortec pattern, and a small cam. That with your headers and exhaust will get that car knocking into the 14's, maybe 13's if you have a posi and nice rear ratio..

And one day when time and money permits im going to build a 305, there not as bad as you think but it just takes money. I cant find it right now bc im at work but on my desktop at home I have a page of a guy who build a Camaro with the 305 and is running low 12's and I dont think its on spray yet.

Like I said, save your money for LT1 or LS1 swap, all this crate motor crap, and carb bullshit, is going to end up shitty.

Oh and if you are determined to build a small cube motor, L99 crank in LT1 block for a 302, or LR4 crank in L92 block for a 5.5L monster.

You can get some decent power from a 305, only problem is 350's are all over the place and a direct bolt in.

Depends what you mean by power.. I've seen the 305 get 300rwhp to the ground NA... which is stout and almost equal to the cubes... But I look at it from a 350's stand point of getting 50-75rwhp NA over your cubes (depending on which 350 etc) and having a lot more torque... and like you said easier to find...

He's been building that thing for around the last 6 years or so, and the how to efi to carb swap your thirdgen should be retitled how to fail, miserably.

Its sad that I could put together a car that would have that 305 pos for lunch using less than $2500.

Dead serious, LT1 or LS1 swap, or you will end up wasting money to get mediocre results.

Im not knocking the LT1 or LS1 swap... Just stickin up for the old 305, chevys red headed step child... $ is most peoples problem, But my next car im going to build is a Malibu wagon with a Ls1/T56 combo. My point was done right for 1000$ you can make a 305 slap into the 13's and have people double take... But there is no replacement for a stroked LSX

The thing is now you can literally get a b body LT1 at LKQ, combine this with a cam, and you dont even have a chance to come close with a 305 for the $.

The same $1000 i'd have an LT1, and cam, which would go 12's, as well as have a lot more potential, ya know ?
