Default 700r4 problems - 87 suburban rear wheel 2wd

hey guys, i'm asking in GM Sales and General Car Chat as well.

i have an 87 suburban 2wd and after a road trip to daytona with the band my transmission is leaking like a stuck pig and shifting high and hard with no 4th/lockup.

i just got the truck a few months ago, and paid to have a bunch of other stuff fixed on it cause it ran strong. needed some ac work, suspension, etc. now the tranny blew out and i can't do it myself cause i was in 2 car accidents in the last 3 months (neither at fault) and can't turn wrench (some permanent damage in my neck, etc) and the 2nd accident frank was injured in as well so i could really use some help.

does anyone have one for sale or can anyone hook me up on getting the work done or if you guys have the time/tools i can bring it to ya. if you have another tranny to swap in, or can remove/rebuild mine it'd be much appreciated.

i live in north palm harbor just north of alderman on us 19, and work off himes/mlk in tampa.

it's drivable but first gear bangs real hard around 30-35mph, shift into 3rd gear at 45mph is pretty clean, but it won't hit 4th anymore and i gotta fill the thing regularly.

i've gotten some quotes, and found some salvage/rebuild tranny's cheap but i wanted to see if i could give someone one on some work first and there's a lot of good mechanics on the board.

also if anyone happens to have the combo meal or i can snag a rebuild motor and tranny i'll just swap'em both one weekend after i heal up a bit.

managed to tighten the tranny pan a little and reduced a lot of the leak but the converter's got a slight leak as well, and 4th is still long gone. at least if it doesn't eat 2qts+ a day i can drive a 3 speed for a while till i find some parts or it dies weeks or months from now.

I'm pretty sure the 4L60 is close to, if not the most common transmission ever made. Shouldnt have too much difficulty finding a replacement as either a temporary or permanent fix.

fix the leak first before you go wasting your money buying another tranny. auto trannies dont like low fluid and they can act up if the fluid is low.
