Best mod for a 96 Impala SS?
i would say keep the shot small. on a motor with that many miles your rings would take a beating. best thing would be for you do get a complete rebuild and do a few minor things then and if you feel the need to add the bottle then the motor will be strong enought to handle a nice shot bring thrown at it.
well the impala lt1s came with the iron head lt1s if you got a nice set of heads it would ake a big difference---i would find a set of aluminum lt1 heads off of ebay and have them ported and polished---you should be able to do this for less that $1000 and would probably see up to 40-50hp---as far as the vette tb---i dont know who told you that but it is bullshit......
or just go with nitrous---it is safe and cheap----dont listen to anyone who tells you n20 isnt safe because they prolly never used it before and dont understand how it works.....

one of the smartest things said.
Wow.... Well this is my first post and im glad that i can get on everybodies good side by saying... what the hell are you people talking about?? Been watching to much fast and furious huh? 80 HP from a TB??? Theres a great idea. Swap out your 48mm TB to put in another 48mm TB. 20% hp increase from headers/exhaust? On a very good day and only with some long tube 3/8 primary headers with borla running an open plate. 40-50 hp from LT1 aluminum heads? No way in hell. Same CFM and Velocity flows. Only problem is that iron heads are heavy and dont dissipate heat as well.

Save your money for an engine rebuild is my advice then do your mods while putting the engine back together. OR
If you want the biggest bang for you bucks then put in a LT4 hotcam. 40hp or so for 469 dollars. 600 bucks for a shop to install it if you are not mechanically inclined. Or you could go with cold air induction and flowmaster exhaust (total 25hp) for about 450 bucks plus 150 for exhaust labor.

Get some flowmasters. It did wonders for the chevette.
