you just replaced the main bearings? So the motor is out of the car obviously? If the motor is on the stand its about a 20-40 minute job. Piece of cake. Take the blancer off (but it should be off already if you did the main bearings) take the front cover off, and then there is 4 bolts to swap out the pump. Make sure you put a new o ring back on the pick up tube and dont lose the small bolt. Its a special bolt. Then put it back together. Dont worry about the special kent moore alignment tools. They are not necessary...just eyeball it or measure. Use RTV in the corners. You can reuse the front cover seal if its in good shape.

BTW...just get a new pump from GM. Find the PN for an LS6 oil pump. All the new ones should be the same....but just use the LS6 oil pimp PN as a reference to ensure you dont get some old 98 oil pump that was sitting on a shelf. You can get a stock ported oil pump for fairly cheap from several vendors.
