Im just wandering if the mounts will fit the trans, I dont really want to have to weld up new mounts.
GNX, GN, T-type, 442, Monte carlo SS etc have all the same 200R4 tranny. will not bolt up to the 3800 sc as its a different motor from the 3.8 that came in the chevys and buicks. buicks use a BOP bolt pattern and that tranny is cast in SBC and BOP bolt pattern. neither will work for you.

To an extent there is still about the same amount of room just more shit to move when you do the swap and if he has a 2.2 the 4.3 would be a great swap.

To the person with the truck what are u looking for in this truck? speed or power? just wondering.

I am debating bagging the truck, giving it just more power than it has. I dont want a dyno queen nor a full on race truck. The 4.3 would be an ok swap, but I think Im pretty much stock on the 3800. As for room, cuttung fender linings and the such wont be a problem because as I said I plan on bagging it.

So really to answer your question I want a semi-powerful motor that is more reliable that boosting-s/c the current 2.2L.

dont forget gm turbo'd the 4.3 in the syclone and typhoon motors and fitted with AWD those things ran deep into the 10-11's. hell they ran low 13's under stock boost. id look into doing a turbo 4.3

A turbo is always the way to go not super charged, the 4.3 would be good but for cheap the 2.2 with forged pistons, total rebuild, a T3 35r turbo and a new set of injectors, with an 8,000 rpm rev limiter wounld give you amazing power for cheap. i have a 2.2 and pistons cost $300, cam was $300, Turbo kit was $2000. a 4.3 should be around the same cose for you but you will have to add cost for motor, tranny and mounts.

And also with keeping ur 2.2 you wont have all the little things to change, you have more room to work with and you will get better mpg.
