Default Chevy transmission ?'s

Ok for you all who have not read my thread about my car, I'm currently swapping a 350 into my corolla. I am looking for a 5 speed trans, maybe a six speed. My question is what transmissions will actually bolt up to the 350? Im kind of new to American cars, I mainly deal with imports so excuse my ignorance with this question.

thanks in advance,

-Mike

i understand you want a 5 or 6spd... now you want to kno what trannys bolt up to a 350? all gm trannys will bolt to it... your question is very plain. explain more. but you can use a T-5 but in stock form i wouldnt throw more than 300hp at it. and for a 6spd you would use a T-56 which is good for bout 400hp.

Well, I plan on building a Supercharged 350. For a all around racer/street car. i know the T56 is a good trans but im not looking to spend that much on a tranny. And What im really wondering is what would be the best setup for my car, and the plans i have i guess.

No they do not. You need to find a tranny that will specifically bolt to an old school 350.

You can not bolt a LS1 6 speed to a SBC unless you find someone that has some sort of adaptor ring.

...manual valve bodied automatic...

and if your going to make any resemblence of power, and HAVE to have a manual tranny for some obscene reason, you need an LT1 T56....they will hold WAY more then 400hp.

A t-5 out of a late 80-s early 90-s camaro or firebird should work just fine those can be had for about 500, all refreshed with synchro's, bearings and such.
