If it is nice and runs good get it, however you can get a LT1 v8 for cheap, $3,500 or less.
And then he can spend the rest on Advil for the headaches it'll give him.

Seriously, if you want a V8 F-Body, my wife wants to sell hers. '96 Trans-Am, auto, ~135k miles.

if u are plaining on maybe picking the v6 up then down the road doing a v8 swap..dont

u will have to get the right k member, the rear will have to be upgraded, same with front suspension, trans and wireing..your better off just to get a lt1 or even a 98 ls1

The MPFI 3.4 was a pushrod motor, similiar to the old MPFI 3.1's. There was another 3.4, the LQ1, that was DOHC but that was never put into a RWD car.

The LQ1 was like nothing more than a modified pushrod 3.4 block.

Your wrong there man. The Lq1 was not or is not a modded pushrod block. The LQ1 was a redesigned block. Mated to cast aluminum sp? heads with 12 lifter per head. There were no push rods anywere in the LQ1. And the car in question the rwd 3.4 never got multi port injection. That engine got sequiental port injection. I've had 2 of the bastards. There fun motors but a ***** to work on.

Still have mine and love it for the Gas mileage and doesn't look half bad. Now when I want speed I'll jump on the Bike or other car.

Here are the things I have had to fix (not including aftermarket parts just to put on) in my 8 years of owning it and I was ROUGH on it when I was younger:

- Clutch
- Had a clogged cat like Franky
- Had a clogged A/C drain thing
- Carrrier bearing

for 8 years I would say thats pretty good.

Oh also ran a 120 shot on it for 2 years after the head/cam change. Not one problem except the tranny mount being a POS and snapping.

I didnt say it had pushrods. Believe me it wasnt that redesigned after having worked with a few as well. Considering they still have a distributor hole thats covered by the head, which is a fucking stupid thing, cause it sucks to replace when the o ring dries up and leaks oil. And its still got the ole timing chain setup, that then has timing belt setup on front of that. Also when It apart it looked like GM installed a blank cam as well
