Default 1991 camaro speedometer problems

I have a 91 Camaro and it seems that everything on my cluster seems to be working except the speedometer. Apparently my year doesn't have a speedometer cable but a sensor. I took it the mechanic but he seems to be stumped. Has anyone else had this problem or the know the solution?

Theres a sensor on the side of the tranny called a VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Replace that.
