Default 291 camel hump heads

i have a set of ported and polished 291 camel hump heads, 64cc chambers, 2.02/1.6 valves. fresh. 3 angle valve job, umbrella style valve stem seals, valve seats have been changed to work with unleaded fuel, etc... only thing is 1 outer head bolt hole on each one has a small peice broken off. heres a pic

both heads are the exact same. i was going to put them on the sbc400 in my truck after having steam holes drilled in them, but i will be moving soon as me and my gf are buying a house and my friend wants to buy them as i need cash for the move. i dont want to rip him off but dont want to get burned either. anyone here that can tell me what they are really worth? he will pay the real value. they are from a 1968 camaro z28 with 302. thanks.

It's hard to say on custom jobs like that, but I would think $800 would be fair.

I'll second that, if those heads are truly from a 302 z-28 motor they are worth at least that much even with the casting jacked up.. You could get that out of them at a swap meet all day.

thanks. i had a guy tell me i could get a grand easy. i really wanted to keep them and use them but priorities. techniclly for any sbc they are bolt on except the 400. need the steam holes for the 400 which is what i was gonna use them for.

also, what about a 327sbc from a 68 camaro. wasnt a z28 or anything. its all origonal down to the powerglide trans and stock carb and valve covers. stil has the old valve seats for leaded fuel and requires octane booster or race gas to run without pinging. the motor and trans numbers match each other.

best bet with the 327 is going to be find someone looking to do a numbers matching setup i guess.

as for the price of your heads, unless you got some decent flow numbers on them, i really dont see you getting 1k for them unless you find some old school guys who swear by fuelie heads. they only had 161cc intake runners, not really anything wonderful compared to the aftermarket stuff that can be had for the same price, but they are definately more bottom end torque oriented heads. im sure you could find someone, but it may be one of those things you sit on for a while if you dont sell them to your friend now.

A good barometer is ebay, check to see what some 327 engines are going for on there to figure out what you could get for it, and if all else fails rent yourself a cheap table at the webster swap meet and sell it there..

ill try and do that. not sure i want to trust that though as sometimes the people that really want them dont even have pc's. ill ask around some of my friends who build muscle cars and see what they say. they might know someone thats interested.
