Default Need Helpp with 97 Lumina

Ok heres the problem I'm Haveing. My mom drives a 97 lumina and she had me put a radio in it for her. Well the factory radio plug wasnt there so i tracked all the wires down and wired it in to the factory wires. Well the radio works just fine but now the speedo dont work. I've already pulled the radio out checked the wires for anything that looked bad and it all looks good. If you turn the radio up way loud the speedo will jump around, but other then that it dont move. Any idea what the hell I did and how to fix it cause shes bitching at me cause she has a led foot as it is and dont like it not working.

Thanks.

....i honestly dont even see how ANY of the radio wires remotely come close to affecting the speedo. are any of the speakers not working, maybe you wired it up to one of the outputs and its getting enough voltage at high volumes to register a reading on the speedo....some how..

Maybe they're unrelated? The wires on the speedo might've been loose, and by you putting the radio in you finished 'em off.

lol good stuff! lol
but yeah like kenny said, you prob somehow wired it into the speedo circuit. idunno how! lmao but stuff happens! lmao
try putting back the wires that ya cut, and then go out to the junk yard and get the radio harness with the factory plug on it, and then go to wal mart and pick up a chevy to your radio harness (if you're not using a factory chevy radio) and then hook it up like a human did the job! lol
that's one of the things that pisses me off really bad! dumb fucks that cut the damn factory harness to put in a radio!!!! GRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
there's no excuse for it what so ever, when you can get an adaptor harness at wal mart or most other stores for next to nothing, and then all you do is PLUG IT IN !!!!!! almost every honda that i have bought has had some dumb ass ricer go in and cut the hell outta the factory harness! grrrrrrrrr!
but yeah, when ya get one that's been cut like your mom's, it's best to just go back and fix it the right way, like i was saying.
good luck man!

There's your problem. Return it back to the way it came stock. Get a new/used stock radio harness and buy the adapter harness for the aftermarket radio.

Just did all that today and its still doing it. Yea I cant stand ppl that cut the factory wire harness to install a radio, Its fucking pointless to be that cheap and save a whole 5-10 bucks.

lol yeah lets make the world a better place by everytime we see someone cutting a harness to put in a radio, PUNCH HIM RIGHT IN THE MOUTH!!!
but yeah it's really dumb to do it, and it makes it really rough on someone else when they get the car with a hole in the dash and a bunch of loose bare wires hanging out!

they are honestly probably totally unrelated.

you run into these things when working at a shop...someone brings a car in for something...they bring it back a day later saying we fucked something up and it was nothing remotely close to anything that was worked on, it was just coincidence. it suprisingly does happen.
