Make sure cam is degreed in properly or you could have to much cranking compression.
Shim the stater properly, plenty of online articles. Make sure flexplate or flywheel has no cracks. Verify the electrical to the starter, and all grounds. Check the bolt location on the block for the starter has no cracks. Any question call me at 941-626-4715 be glad to help

my old drag car ate starters up..and i ran a .690 cam and a 13-1 compression..my problem was i had a hot wire some where so at times my battery would only send enough juice to crank the starter over but no the right amount...witch in then u burn starters out due to it..after 5 starters i figure it out and shit..haha 3 where in one day..the auto parts store was like wtf are u doing man..lol..also if not shimmed right they will go
