Default Intrigue Oil/coolant Leak??

Intrigue 1999 3.8-liter v-6.
Don’t know much about GM so hopefully you guys can help me out here. My friend lives in Canada so I didn’t look at the car just giving the description that the mechanic gave her. Leaking oil on to the engine it is smoking. Mechanic changed the rocker gasket and still leaking. She brought it back to him he said that the coolant and oil is still leaking. He said it’s through her intake manifold because it’s plastic and it wears fast than normal intakes. He said he has to replace her intake and gaskets it will cast $1100. If anyone has any ideas what it could be please LMK? Thank for any help. This just does not sound right to me.

that is complete crap. i know people who have 97 grand prix's with 300+hp n/a and never had to change the plenum. not intake manifold. the intake manifold is 2 part on the 3.8, upper and lower, and they are both cast iron. these are the same style as on the ls1's. the plastic is very strong and in all my years working on 3.8's ive never heard of that happening. tell her to do this, clean off the area where the oil is hitting the exhaust manifold and drive around for a lil bit and pop open the hood. the oil could just be comming from the oil cap or he didnt really change the valve cover gasket. i know i had to wrap by breather cap because it was dripping oil onto my exhaust manifold. have any more 3.8 inquiries feel free to email me.
