heads, cam, headers and i would swap it over to a carb.i hate fuel injection so thats just me.i'm not sure how good the 305 heads are stock so thats why i would swap them out.but if your keeping the 305 u might just beable to ad the cam, headers and get the level u want.its not like your shooting for a high hp level its really a low one.my iroc has 240hp stock and i would just do what i told u if i was only wanting to get 300hp out of it.

u can find a tpi intake and competer for around 500.u could pick up a harness from painless wiring or off ebay cheap.i got to talk to a couple engine builders tomarrow to see if i will have to change pistons so i dont send my valves into my pistons.i'll be selling my l98 top end soon.i'm going to try and get 1g for the stuff.also how high of a lift cam do u want to run u might have to think about getting diff springs to got with the cam.

Woah.... Here it goes.

If its TBI injected, then its a 305. In 92, you could have got a 305 TBI (RS), 305 TPI Z/28 (tuned port injection) and a 350 TPI Z/28. Another way to tell the car apart is if you had a 350 TPI Z/28, there was NO T-top option. Only the 305 TPI Zs could get T-tops. You could also look at the VINs. The 6th or 7th (dont remember off hand) will be a "F" for 305 or "8" for a 350.

Now, as far as the motor. If you are strapped for cash, I would honestly save for a L98 350 swap. You can pick them up for cheap. I would also save for a different intake setup, like the miniram from TPiS. The stock TPI plenum sucks ass. Its torquey (is that a word?) off the line, but it cant breath aboove ~4000 RPMS. It just falls on its face. After the swap, a small cam, new intake and the normal stuff like bolt ons, headers, good catback and such should put you over 300 HP reliably.

Have you ever had the car on the dyno? I know the 305 TBI motors might put out like 170 HP.

Hmmmm, putting heads, cam, and exhaust on a 305 would do it, but a crate, 300hp 350 from GM costs like $1200 and you'll get a warranty. Since the car was an original V8 car, the warranty actually kicks ass, almost like a new car. I'd say drop a crate 350 in and call it a day.

For example, my 350 is a stock '72 out of a 1/2 ton pickup. It's got a cam, intake manifold, and headers, and produces over 300hp on stock heads with 8.5:1 compression. It's pretty easy to get 300hp out of a 350.

you would be hard presed to get 300 hp out of a 305. Some magizine tried to do it a few years ago. I believe they stroked it to a 335. If I remember right they got a cunt hair over 300hp. They said it Wasnt worth it.
