Default Problems with Firebird...Can anyone help

Hey TR GM members, im not normally in this forum but maybe someone can help out. My girlfriends on my ass about her car so im tryin to see if I can help her save some money.
Car: 1996 Pontiac Firebird 3.8 V6
Needs: 1. Driver side electric window motor.(goes down slow but not up)
2.A/C compressor *Blows just not cold (Got the a/c tested and has 2 leaks, one is in the front compressor seal and the other is in the compressor casing) Dont care if its a rebuilt compressor as long as it does its job. Does anyone have one lying around or know of a good place to get this fixed. Took the car to A-1 Auto Air Inc. on S.R.60 in Brandon near Chucky cheese to get the A/C looked at and heres my quote...

Parts Labor
Expansion Tube/Block: $9.80 $30.00
A/C Recharge/Evauation: $36.00 $84.00
A/C Compressor (NEW): $398.00 $54.00

Total Cost: $468.80 $168.00
Subtotal: $636.80
Tax: $44.58
Estimated Repair: $681.38
Dont have this kinda money to spend so any help at all will be greatly appreciated TR. Thanks. Feel free to call me or PM. Jesse

The AC went out on my 3.8L V6 Camaro the same way. Call Clearwater Automotive for the compressor. They gave me a used one, with a warranty, for $100 out the door. I took it to my friend Bobby's shop, Ultimate Auto on Lake in Largo, and he threw it in for like $200 or something. I don't like to fuck with A/C. I bet Clearwater Automotive has a nice used power window motor for you too.

Call Southeast Auto Supply!! Ask for Jamie and tell him Carl sent you over. I got a BRAND NEW Delphi (OE) compressor, orifice tube, and accumulator for $300... All OE stuff. List price on the compressor alone is $700+. I installed it myself (took 1.5 hours) and went to Midas on DM and they charges me $190 for a complete flush, oil, evac and recharge.

When a compressor goes out you HAVE to change the orifice tube, and accumulator. Also, you have to flush the system because usually when a compressor goes out, it sends metal fragments into the a/c system.

the window motors are 45 bucks from discount and come with lifetime warranties. just did my passenger and have my replacement driver side sittin here, but im going to wait on it, cause the one i have in the car still works ok. the install is straight forward, just have to drill 3 holes, drill out 3 rivets, and install the new motor.

need a c clamp to hold the window up with the motor out, best to take out the speaker for access, unplug the window motor, use a big bit to drill out the door where the 3 rivets are, and then use a 1/4 bit to chew out the rivets and drop the old motor. new motor from discount will come with screws and nuts, i used loctite on mine so they wouldnt back out.

Good thinking on the screws, Deacon. Mine fell out, and the whole damn window came crashing down. It sucked...

Window motor is pretty simple, just make sure not to let the glass drop else it might get scratched up, and make sure never to fuck with anything if it doesn't have some play in it, else you run the risk of cracking your window as you tighten shit up.

I ate so many wires on my V6 it wasn't funny. Do yourself a favor and tie wrap the wires out of the way. I had wires ties to the AC lines and shit.
