Local engine shops with good prices?
I've been looking at the GM performance parts crate motor 350ci 290 horse for $1,600 and was wondering if there are any recommended shops you would have build a motor instead of getting a crate. Will someone local build that HP for that price? What would you guys do? Big yellow is getting kind of sickley.

If you can supply a stock 350/355 or one that needs rebuilt, u can take it re bearing it etc/ for 600-800, get a victor Jr Intake ~270 and at the least World Product Sportsman II Angle plug heads (520 ea). than of course .480-.520 cam w/ lifters 230-340
Or a quick fix buy the crate motor and put like a .540 Lift cam in it

Keep in mind i am on the 1600ish budjet. I don't need a monster race truck, just something that will move this tub.
