Default Aluminum Big block vs 427 ls2....

Trying to decide on another engine combo for my car. I was lookin at building an aluminum bigblock using a merlin block since I was originally doing a big block build up. I have all the parts i need to do the build only bad thing is the aluminum block runs about 35xx.00 bare. Im also interested in the newer trend for my car 427ci of ls2 i think the short block will run me about 5000.00 but with the right parts its capable of making as much hp on a streetable level as the parts I have for my Big block are capable of. The real reason for going with either is to save some weight off the nose of my car a 69 camaro. So tell me what you guys think.
