When did GM go metric?
So the other day I was reasearching the specs on this '97 454 I was thinking about buying and I came across something odd--GM rates all their engines in metric now! Instead of being 454ci it was 7800-something cc and all the bore and stroke measurements were in mm instead of in. What has happened in the world that a domestic manufacturer would use non-domestic measurements?

I still hate it when they talk about domestic motors in metric cc's
makes me think I'm looking at a crotch rocket or a briggs and straton motor

I think its been that way since the mid 90s. We were supposed to switch to the metric system and never did. Since 90% of the car is made from overseas parts, its nothing new
I think it started with the Vortec motors.

metric = teh suck
I love my dinosaur motor and caveman measurements
454, 455, 502, 350 sounds alot more bad ass
cc's make everything sound sound professional
Standard makes me think of crude, brute force, when talking about motors
