Default Need some opinions

After this holiday comming up i was intending on doing some kind of cam kit to my Z. Where i would get springs, retainers, rockers and a decent lift cam. Also a new intake mani. Only question is that my car will be hitting the 141,xxx mark here shorty. Was wondering if this was a good idea or to just go ahead and do a rebuild to it. T-56 is fine, shifts good, rear-end whines but oh well and no really bad oil leaks. Any info would be great or if you have any ideas on better set-ups similar to this. Thanks

-kyle

If its running good then put a cam in it. If the motor gives out then you can rebuild it.
People to to much emphasis on mileage. Overall maintenence and running condition is what matters most.

yes you want a nice lift cam but you don't want to have to worry about adjusting your valves, etc. all the time

my advice is pretty much get everything in the lt4 hotcam kit
and just use a cc305 or cc306

I have to agree with myltwon but If I was you I would rebuild it anyways, it will gain horsepower just from a rebuild. a good rebuild is 600 bucks at an engine shop and i am pretty sure that LT4 Hot cam is like 1.5k plus. put it in the shop THERE IS NOT SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBIC INCHES bore that thing 60 over!

i dont mind spending a decent grand on a good cam kit and a deecnt manifold. I have heard alot of negative stuff with that LT4 cam kit. I did see it in summit for $509 for cam, springs, rockers, springs and retaners. Dunno what to do thats why i asked the good people of TR!
