Default Am I the only one who owns a 2nd Gen F-body?

I was just scanning all the posts and got back as far as July and didnt see anything regarding old F-bodies... seems like everyone just has the new stuffs.

i was wondering if there's anyone on here that has some Older iron. it would be kinda weird to be the only guy w/ an old F-body coming out on Saturday nights.

You'd feel right at home at the Setser show.

I have an '81 Turbo Trans Am I've had since high school; got it in '89, my junior year. Swapped out the turboed 301/auto for a '75 400/Richmond 5-speed in '92, stupid drunk lady in a Camry pulled out in front of me on Fowler Ave in '95, drove it with a damaged frontend 'til '98, and it's been sitting since. Looked in the trunk a week ago only to find several holes on the trunk floor. Otherwise, the car is still in restorable shape. I gotta quit being seduced by my '97 Z-28 and start paying more attention to my old heap.

Hey, its a 1979 w/ the WS4 package. i think i still have the original build sheet in my records. i dont remember if i brought the folder with me to fla or not. but its garaged in ohio and has been for the past 2+ years.

the WS4 package that it has is essentially the WS6 minus rear disc and 400/4sp combo. but its got the Olds 403/TH-350 w/ 3.23 Posi, full TA ground FX of course, had the decal pacakge and what not but that got all stripped off when it was repainted in 1999. it is actually called a Dark Caribe green, it was a color available on the 4th Gen F-bodies back in 1999. it even has the Cragar Rear window Louvers... it was the sex. 15x8" Snowflakes w/ the 2" lip. camel tan velour interior. but its got some mods on it right now like a custom radiator, edlebrock performer intake, rebuild q-jet, Lakewood bars, air shocks, B&M shift kit, B&M megashifter, Dynomax long tube headers, dual gutted cats, full flowmaster header-back w/ 80 series crossflow. its not bad, a fun car. quite a stripper model, no power accessories of any sort, just power brakes, power steering and thats it.

the Turbo TA was kinda cool, but i never really liked the 301. they should have at least done a 350 or something. oh well. thatll be on my list of things to do; break-in motor, drag it down here to fla, drive it.

yea... its not "Old". it wasnt even a "classic" back when i first had it. all i could think about was keeping it long enough for it to be technically considered a classic. and now that the years have passed... and its 25+ years old... its starting to get up there in age.

when i first got it, i thought about how i wanted to get a 69 TA, of any variation... and an 89 Turbo TA, and a 99 30th anniv. TA so i could have one from each generation. it seems like the anniversary years were the best, to me.
