Default 96 V-6 Firebird. Whats the best V-8 swap?

My cousin just blew his motor in his 96 firebird and wants to swap in a v-8. He found a 95 LT1 full swap with rearend for 4 grand. is that a good price? What would be the best swap for the money? What swap has the most power? Any help would be appreciated.

Was the $4K for the Motor, trans and rearend? If it is for the whole drive train thats a good price. If it is just the motor and rear then no. The motors can be found for around $2k.

How much? I've got the 95, and I hate its engine with a passion. I'm pretty set on a 5.0, but only because I never considered something like this. If I can make the dirty bird go vroom for a decent amount of money, then I might actually keep it and throw a v8 in it.

+1

V8 4th gen swap = big pain in the ass. It's easier to buy a new car.

Everytime I get the new Summit catalog I have to stop and look at the 572 crate on sale. You know how good that thing would look in my '67?
