Default C5 vette question

I really want a C5 corvette. What is the best year to get? I want the strongest motor. I can’t afford a brand new one or a Z06 so that’s out of the question. And if I got this car what mods would I need to do to get it into the 11’s. Should I get an auto or 6 speed? Im new to the corvette/domestic seen what would you do in my case?

Plus there is less to worry about a t56 breaking. 4l60's don't seem to last long with some hard launches

i dont think there are any durability differences between the M6 and A4.

An M6 clutch will go out way before the 4L60 breaks....

Yea, that's a good point, but once you get a good clutch in the t56 you really don't have to even think about it unless your making gobs of power.

I'm sure you know way more than I do about it, but I think I remember you posting about rebuilding your a4 a couple times.

Nope. Just once at 97,000 miles. 112,000 miles now and VERY stout!

Stock clutches and bands. Nothing more than a shift kit and the corvette servo.

Find a 99 fixed roof coupe...or FRC for short. They were the predecessor to the Z06. Very lightweight and great to mod. Kinda rare though.
