Default F-Body Reliability

Right now, I drive a 1995 V6 Firebird, and the bastard is sorta tumbling downhill faster than I can buy new parts and replace what goes bad. As of now, I've gotten the problems down to just some oil leaks. My friend had a newer v6 3.8 bird - some kinda performance kit on it - and it was doing the same thing to him. So I'm wondering, what is the general reliability like for F-Bodies in general, new and old?

Wondering if I should go for a Trans Am WS6 next of a Mustang 5.0, and my main concern is how damn unreliable I've seen F-Bodies to be.

Ive never had any problems with any of mine. Ive had 4 and none of them ever left me stranded. I had my 92 RS for 5 years and it never broke down and I gave that poor thing everything I could. It had a rod knock and smoked like hell for 1.5 years and I still couldnt blow it up

I've had the SS for a year with no problems. Before this I had a 94 3.4 that I absolutely beat the shit out of. 140k on the clock, 15-20 runs back to back every Thursday night in the 1/8 mile. Only problem I had with it was a rear main seal...which was toast when I bought it.

Damn fbody power window motors. What's the deal with them things .. always the first thing to go. I know my mom bought her's new in 97 and it has 85k on the clock and it lost a waterpump and the distributor ... that's it. I'd say that's pretty reliable.

Agh, yes, damn the window motors as well. I have to assist the passenger window in its movement. But anyhow, I'm leaking oil for one, but I think its jsut seals. I've also got some terrible problems starting the car. I just replaced the alternator that went bad with a new built up one. Now, for example tonight when I was starting it in about 50-60 degree weather, it simply wouldn't turn over. It pulled for a moment, then slowed down and slowed and stopped, then fell dead for a second, then went slowly for a few more seconds, then sputtered to life. Let it be noted that I never took my key out of the start position that particular time. But yeah thats the starting problem in a nutshell. Thats the only thing thats really puzzling me is the starting problem. I've looked at it with my limited knowledge, and the connections seem good, the battery simply can't be dead with a 160 amp alternator recharging it, so I'm stuck, really. 1995 v6 3.4 with 124k on it, had to have been a northern car.
