Question 98 camaro

I have a friend with a 98 camaro z28 a4 and when you put it into drive and start to go like from a stop light, ( not racing) but just going theres this crunching kinda noise/ feeling coming from the drivetrain. like I can hear it, and it sounds like its coming from the rear end,but my friend says she can feel it and its from the tranny. I can kinda feel what she's talking about could it be a torque converter gone bad or the tranny or a stabilizing bar. or something hopefully not a tranny. maybe even the rear end. You can hear and feel the most when you go around a turn or if you pull out into traffic and you have to stomp on it to not get hit, not wot or anything maybe 3/4. If anyone knows or can listen It'd be gratefully appreciated

If it's a loud "clunking" noise or something along those lines, it could be the transmission mount...4-gens are notorious for breaking the transmission mount(speically when you do a lot of burnouts/get on it everywhere), and when you get on it the transmission jumps up and bangs on the bottom of the car...hell mine blew out in my 95 T/A about a year and a half ago...upgraded to a stronger "racing" mount and havn't had any problems since...you might want to look into that

Is the mount easy to see if it's broken, like under the tranny or is it above? I would generally research this right now but I'm tired and have to go do a garage sale. I know it's no excuse but well thanx for any and all help you can give.

its easy to see...
Also check all the bolts to see if they are tight under there. Check your 2 torque arm bolts if u think u can hear it from the rear.

Not really, unless you put the bolts in while the rearend wasn't under pressure. If you put the bolts in while the rearend is just hanging without support, they have a probability for coming loose.

Another vote for tranny mount, just replaced mine. The only real way to check is to support the transmission up and then remove the crossmember. If you remove the four bolts that hold the crossmember to the frame of the car and the crossmember falls, then the tranny mount is broken. There is a center bolt on the transmission mount that holds it to the crossmember. When it breaks the two peices will separate.
