Lotus Elise is here (kinda)
I'd roll in that.
The rumors are still hot on this whole deal but the estimates all seem to point between 35k-40k(yeah, ouch) and it's starting to sound that the motor will be the same motor as in the Toyota GT-S(190hpish). Given the weight and track reputation these cars have it should be one hell of a car in the correct hands.
I think they could do much better in the US if they offered a stripped down under powered version for around the same price as a Miata. There are several of these cars with various degrees of modification in the US used a dedicated track cars and they are nothing short of amazing.

"The recipient of numerous industry awards and accolades for design, performance, drivability and handling, the Elise is constructed around a strong, rigid, yet lightweight extruded and bonded aluminum chassis. Consistent with the Lotus design philosophy of achieving performance and efficiency through light weight, this high tech chassis weighing less than 150 lbs allows for a complete vehicle weight of approximately 1700lbs (current European specification). "
That's just amazing! Imagine 1,700lbs RWD with 190HPish motor?! Slow, I don't think so.
