Buy a Cleaning kit from pep boys or auto zone.

The kit will have instructions in it.

K&N has a cleaning kit for about $20 I believe. I bought it a year ago. Have used it a few times and the K&N filter I have looks like its still new. The kit has step-by-step instructions. You will spend about an hour (including letting the filter dry afterwards) to clean it. Definitely worth the $...

yes, k&n has a filter recharge kit. its pretty cheap and well worth the price. but you cant just use this on any filter, so make sure your filter is the one you can use this with. all you do is spray on this cleaning shit, then rinse it off, then apply the red oil to the filter.

if your filter is just a regular drop in the box paper filter then you will not be able to use the kit. get a reusable filter with lifetime warrantee like k&n.

just start the car and hose it off, that way all the dirt gets sucked through the motor and goes right out of the exhaust. the spray some crisco or pam on it for lube. then close hood and ride out.
