Default Mileage on built motors

OK now... maybe i'm just wierd or something.. but heres the question.

Stock motors last 200K ( if u take care of them)

Why do people tell me that built motors last 30-40 K miles or less... now dont tell me that they come under more stress... thats a given. thats why you built it.. But with proper safe tuning why cant a built motor last until 100K?

For example.... why would a superbly built SR20DET have a problem running 350rwhp for many many moons........

The shit has been beaten out of my motor for over 100K miles and its still running strong, even if it is ailing a bit.

A sturdy motor that is not putting out more than double its stock horsepower should be able to last longer than 100K miles.

Motors are usually only built with a safety factor of 4 so people that are pushing their engines for 3 or 4 times the stock power ratings are really pushing their luck and are gambling with their engines future.

motor stock makes 205hp..... if it can hold 450+ rwhp stock... (aka enthalpy) but dosent last long... now if i build it like NUTS.. shouldnt i be able to make 380-400 rwhp for a LONG TIME?

There are a few reasons. Some already stated.
1) if your building a motor it is most likely going to be very high HP and many times will use a power adder. Even if its not using a power adder and is staying NA most will spin the crap out of it and have high compression. RPM is just as big a killer of motors as high cylinder pressure. So I think we have a tendancy to push it right to the maximum and just beyond.
2) build quility and tolerences. Regardless of who is building your motor...many times it is not equal to the process and quality control of a major manufacturer. Many mistakes leading to an engines early death happen...even to the best engine builders.

I think if you took a built motor like mine and kept HP around 430 rwhp and 425 rwtq and only spun it to 6300 like I do and didnt spray the crap out of it( like I plan too) it would probably last 100k. But seeing as how I hope to occaisionally see upwards of 700 rwhp.......
