It was late 1965, my Dad told my Mom to go order a new Chevy for herself and let Jeff (me) help her order it. On the way to the dealer she said there were 5 things it had to have, power brakes, power steering, automatic trans, air conditioning, and be an Impala. She ended up with an Impala SS convertible with a 427 that had 390 horsepower in Danube Blue with a white top and black interior with wire wheel covers with spinners.

I took my drivers test in that car. This ad hit me pretty hard...

Sure I cried. Alot. That's because I have my late brother's '66 Corvette 427 convertible that he bought new when I was only 12. And due to my brother's influence, I have owned a dozen Corvettes since I was 21. At age 67, I now cherish this perfect time capsule, show it in his memory and think of him every time I see it in my garage. Joe's name is on the license plate and I even switched the seats so he rides with me everywhere. This connection means everything to me.

She was 16 and I was 17 on our first date. They said it would never last and we should think about our future. That was 1971. We dated for two years and were married, had three children, and were together 40 years until she passed away in 2010. I loved this video. It's hard to explain to someone how something like a car can be such an integral part of your teenage memories. Wonderful advertisement GM. Now I'm crying like a baby.
