Default Painting Calipers..

Ok im going to paint my calipers black and im planning on using VHT brand.. I've heard it works better most other high temp paints.
Will VHT rated for a 550 degrees be fine? I know the calipers dont get that hot but i'd still like to hear from people who've painted theirs. I want the paint to last a long time and stay looking good.

They'll be primered and clear coated too.

I painted mine with high temp engine enamel.

It's coming off in chunks now. Don't waste your time.

-1500 degree engine enamel
--base coat, black or white depending on your shade, one is fine
--color coat, 2 to 3 coats, until desired color is reached
--2 or more coats of clear

if it doesnt last, you did it wrong.

be sure to drown them in brakleen first and maybe hit them with a metal brush to kinda roughen it up. and tape off the excess if you are doing this with them on the car. no one likes ghetto ricey paint marks on your rotors. some say it will burn off the face of the rotor--that is mostly true--but on the edges it doesnt.

take your time. lasted me 3+ yrs and looks better than half the schmucks who take their calipers off and spend all day painting the whole thing.

ditto on what dan says about cleaning them off first.

i also went ahead and painted the entire spindle all the wayup past the top of the tire. it looks alot better now.

mpbiv- I bought 2 cans of the 900 degree VHT from Jegs. Thanks for the link.
Any advice on what brand of clear coat to use? or is clear coat just clear coat?

Hey Corey.... I had to take my spring assembly down to a shop to have the retainer nuts busted off... not a lot of work we could of done on saturday because of that problem. I went through 4 batterys on my 16.8 drill trying to bust it off... Cars about 1/4 way done I think i'll finish 3/4th of it by the end of spring break.
