The Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash may be no more, but you can have a piece of that legacy with this Ferrari Dino. (The spirit of the Cannonball Run does live, however, with the Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports.)

This 246 GTS won the 1975 event with a record-setting time of 35 hours and 53 minutes, piloted by Jack May and co-driver Rick Cline.

Today, the car shows some 50,000 miles and is offered in “highly original” condition.

Cannonball 46 year reunion Oct 12 2025 Darien CT

Darien, Connecticut holds a unique and pivotal place in Cannonball Run history. For the final official race in 1979, organizers made the strategic decision to move the starting location from the iconic Red Ball Garage in Manhattan to the Lock, Stock & Barrel restaurant in Darien. This change proved significant for several reasons: it provided participants with a less conspicuous launch point away from New York City's heavy traffic and media attention, while Darien's proximity to the city still offered ideal staging opportunities for racers eager to quickly reach the open highway.

The 1979 Darien race proved to be more than just the final official Cannonball—it became the direct inspiration for the 1981 blockbuster film "Cannonball Run" starring Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Dom DeLuise, Dean Martin, Jacky Chan and many others. Hollywood stuntman and director Hal Needham, who participated in the actual race, used his experience to create the movie that would immortalize the event in popular culture.

As usual, the event us open to all makes and all models of cars. Gates will open at 6:30 am and the event will run until 11:00 am. DJ Brian starts the music at 8:00 am, there will be a memorabilia auction, raffles, a Q&A session with Cannonballers, and lots of cars.

John Harrison, also '79 Cannonball who thought a Lotus Esprit was a good choice for a cross-country run (in a country where there are very few British car mechanics)
Alex Roy who broke the record in 2006 and who set the Full Self Driving record in 2025
Jeff Popick and his daughter, Alexis who became the first father / daughter team to complete the run earlier in 2025
Andre Morgan who was one of the Producers on all the Cannonball Run movies

Profits from admission will be donated to the Brock Yates' Alzheimer Foundation - a Federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

The original Dodge Challenger, produced from 1970 to 1974, hit the peak of the muscle car era with an almost unmatched mix of style, variety, and raw performance. Three of those cars would achieve almost mythical status: the 1970, 440 Challenger driven by Kowalski (played by Barry Newman) in the cult film Vanishing Point; the 1970 hemi-powered "Black Ghost" Challenger owned by Detroit police officer Godfrey Qualls, that dominated the Detroit street racing scene, and the 1972 Challenger (pictured below) built by NASCAR legend Cotton Owens and driven by Brock Yates in the 1972 and 1975 Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash cross-country races. That car, along with many others, will be on display at the annual Cannonball Run Reunion at Old Kings Market (formerly Goodwives Shopping Center) in Darien on October 12th.

EVENT DETAILS The Cannonball Reunion Car Show takes place at Old Kings Market in Darien. This year is extra special as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Cannonball and automotive enthusiasts from all over the US, Europe and Asia are flying (or driving) in. This years event will feature DJ Brian Skirba (starting at 8 AM), a live memorabilia auction, a Q&A / autograph session with some of the original Cannonball race participants, and lots of cars.

As usual, the event us open to all makes and all models of cars.

6:00 am – Gates open for invited guests
7:00 am – Gates open for public / spectators
8:00 am – Judging starts
9:00 am to 10:00 am – Public Q&A and autograph session
10:00 am – Judging ends / Live Auction starts
10:30 am – Award Winners Announced
11:00 am – Event Ends
