Mustang is ditching the retro look
2015 Ford Mustang Spy Video

The spy video, courtesy of the guys at Mustang 6G, confirms that the 2015 Mustang will be similar in size to the current car but with a lower profile and what appears to be a slightly wider track. A fifth-generation Mustang in blue is seen driving alongside the prototype, offering a good comparison.
As this will be the first truly global Mustang, expect the strong retro cues to be toned down. As has been reported in the past, the car's styling should maintain distinct Mustang cues but with some influences from Ford's Evos concept from 2011.

As for the 2015 Mustang’s model lineup, we expect the Mustang GT to remain, still with a 5.0-liter V-8 under the hood, while the base Mustang with a V-6 should also carry over. A new turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder model is also expected, possibly to fill the gap between the base Mustang and Mustang GT and provide an option for buyers in markets (read Europe) where fuel prices are significantly higher than here in the U.S.

yeah.. they are getting better with the spy coverup crap.. but, i do agree the time has come to shake things up. the resto-retro thing is getting plaid out. Dodge with their challengers, chevy with the camaros, and ford with this.
The future is now. Time to bust out with fresh futuristic revamps of cars...

You know what the difference between the mustang camaro charger challenger firebird and etc is....... Only ones not been out of production lol.
I like that the mustang shares the look of its roots. I think you'll see an Eco boost v6 before an inline 4

Best way to keep a classic mustang fan a customer is to keep the design original. I'd like to see more bang for your buck for a GT, though, if they do an ecoboost v6.
i trhink a modern retro design would sell.ive seen a couple of pics without the coverup stuff on and they look good to me.kind of like a genesis coupe crossed with the last gen mustang.im pretty sure the powertrain wont change much next year as all that stuff is new.
Car and Driver did a CGI of what they believe the Mustang will look like. Looked just like a Genesis Coupe. Really hope they don't go that direction. Hate to see them make a 4 banger but that seems inevitable in these days (yes I do realize that Ford had the turbo SVO Stang in the 80s). It seems for has just gotten the formula down (back to a 5.0, 400+ horsepower) so hopefully they build on this rather than go backwards. Ironically Mustang fans have the Camaro and Challenger to thank for where the Mustang is today. They pushed the envelope and started a modern muscle car war. Bigger V-8s, tons of horsepower and rear wheel drive, just like the last time these 3 cars were on sale together (which I believe was 74 maybe? ). Ford has improved upon the Mustang quite a bit in the last few generations and hopefully the next doesn't disappoint. Remember when the Probe was going to be the new Mustang? Yeah let's forget about that.
