Default Why do car clubs die?.........Why do websites die?

Are you interested in Planning an Event?

I found this lying around from the Tampa Bay Miata Club. A club I had not recently heard of. I began to wonder if clubs die and if car websites die from lack of interest. It looks like there is plenty to do
if a person had a few friends willing to help.-Bob

If you have never prepared and/or lead a Miata event, it can appear overwhelming at first. Although it looks hard, it really isn't. Basically, if there is something you, a Miata Club member, enjoy doing in / or with your wonderful car, it's likely others would also enjoy it. Here are some ideas & tips to make it easier for you to plan, and enjoyable for all attending.

Plan your event : (Here are some event ideas)

Tech Session
Funcanna
Picnic Meet
Poker Night
Canoe Trip
Meet & Greet
Caravans National Miata Events
Fishing Trip
Drive-In Theatre
Bowling Event
Scenic Overnight Tour
Enthusiast Drive
Mystery Dinner Run
Holiday Event Party
Track Event
Drive-In Resturant
Backyard Bar-B-Que
Scavenger Hunt
Super Bowl Party
Coffee & Donuts
Car Show
Poker Run
Christmas or Gasparilla Parade
Drive 'n' Dine
Annual Statewide Miata RoundUp (You will need help for this)
National Miata Club Rally (This requires ALOT of help)

Next, check for available dates, and then get busy! You can also get a partner to help. Having two club members involved lightens the workload, plus it provides a backup.

Have complete directions, with mileage, so that no one is dependent on "keeping up." Run the route a couple of times (if possible.) One of these runs should be close to the event date to assure that the roads have not succumbed to construction.

For longer driving trips allow for breaks every 60-90 minutes. Allow plenty of time for these -- Miata folk like to talk, visit, and STRETCH.

For overnight tours, try to have alternative hotels for overflow, or a choice of costs. The easiest way to handle hotels is to reserve a block of rooms, but have the members make their own reservations.

As for the meals - not everyone may care for Taco Bell, nor can everyone afford the Ritz.

If you need help, contact the Admin or any of the Mods! Please remember to plan your event well in advance so that others can mark their Calenders, or take the day off if needed.

This site is designed with the Miata driver in mind. We will try to cater to all of our members with special interests. Whether you are interested in performance driving, car shows, social gatherings or just want to talk Miata then we plan to have something for you.

Please drop the Admin a PM (private message) if you have any suggestions for the site. Articles, photos and "after action reports" of club events are always welcome. So send in your Miata stories and photos in a digital format so that the rest of the Miata world can enjoy them as well.

Here is a example of what you event post should include;

WHAT What type of event are you planning?
WHERE Where do we start and finish?
WHEN When do you want to do this? Time/Date, Remember that events can overlap. We want folks to have a choice. However, please try not to schedule a similar event to one that is already on the calendar at the same time. (For example, a tour could overlap a track event, as the participant list would probably differ.)
HOW Is this to be a rain or shine event, or will it be canceled or postponed in the event of bad weather?
WHY Because you own a Miata! And this is YOUR Club!
