i just got this car for christmas. its a 91 nissan sentra...well im up here in indiana (snow) and i go to start my car and it wont start... everything comes on but the car(lights radio and everything else) all it does is click when i turn the key....any help would be apriciated.thanks

 

Could be the following, check them all...

#1) Spark Plug Wires
#2) Spark Plugs
#3) Distributor Cap Or Rotor
#4) Timing got thrown off

My Mustang would make that same sound when I tried to start it.. replace the Distrib. Cap and Rotor, if that doesnt work, also replace the wires and plugs.. and if THAT doesnt work, then you need to get someone with a timing light to check the timing, because timing might be off.

Most tune-ups, they dont replace the cap or rotor I dont think... but if they did then also check the battery, sometimes the lights and everything will come on, but they will shut off within 5-8 minutes, which is a sign that your battery is pretty dead. If that's not it, Double check and make sure the cap & rotor are on tight, make sure the spark plug wires are on tight.. and then I suggest you try starting the car, while pressing the gas pedal, and do it 5-8 times, sometimes the rotor will get knocked off a little, and by doing that, it knocks it back into place when it hits a certain wire ignition point inside the distributor. If it still doesnt work, check the Starter, then the Ignition Module, and if all still fails... it's your timing for sure. now im out of breathe....

 

Does it turn over.or just click.if it just clicks prolly battey drained down.try to start the car.if the lights go dim,then its your battery or a bad connection on the battery post.but if it turns over but wont start,start with the fuel,spark test,check for ignition spark and fuel system for delivery,hope this helps bro,later.Ray

 

it is either no spark (dead batt) or the starter is fuxored (it is engaging but just not spinning the flywheel.

 

try gettin under the car where the starter is and whackin it a few times with a mutherfuckerwhacker and see if that gets it to work (actually this does work sometimes with bad starters) and if that works take it down to the parts shop and get a new starter because that ghetto ass way of gettin it to work dosent work all the time lol

 

Ya, if it's the starter, take some anger out on it, it will eventually get scared and want to work.

 

it just clicks...when i turn the key all the lights go off and the radio. it just clicks once

 

could it be a dead cell in the battery?
