Default Headlight Bulb Question

So I am thinking of replacing the bulbs in my headlights (no real reason why) and wonder if anyone has any suggestions? I am looking at possibly the Osram Night Breaker Plus series. Are these even worth buying or am I looking at a waste of money?

No experience with those but for a stock replacement it is really hard to beat the Sylvania ultra white's or whatever they are called. Of course, you could always do a projector retro fit and go HID.

Just don't be a DOUCHEY RICER and do HID's without the proper retro fit/projector/housing set up.

This also... Forgot to mention that. Do your research first and see what the best route to go is before you start if you decide to go that route.

It's true that some HID's cost a lot. A true HID bulb will cost more than halogen. An HID bulb ....at least the one's I've seen ......are longer and have a different filament than a halogen bulb. A true HID bulb needs a cool-down period before cutting back on or the heat will kill it. High dollar Porsche/Nissans/BMW's and others go from high to low with the same bulb by electrically shifting a
gate to switch from high to low beam. The bulb stays on for both high and low beams and lasts longer.

There are fake HID's that sell for less. There are fake kits with a ballast, one per side, and the bulbs are halogen bulbs that have been dipped in blue transparent paint.
A little like the yellow "driving glasses" that fool your eyes into believing you see better when certain colors are filtered out, dipped bulbs do the same.....and if you think
you are seeing better, then maybe you are.

Would someone else care to elaborate on the projector beam lenses as to length of field and intensity?-Bob

I have my own headlights question that I'm asking in a separate thread so I can avoid trouble. This is the link: https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/g...ml#post9198350

Default 3 types of non-HID's

Related to bulbs and paint dipping....and your question about brightness.......

I was in Walmart the other night and saw three 9000 series bulbs
that plug into certain later model cars. There was clearly a difference
in the coating or paint on the bulbs and also the claims by the MFG'er.

The prices ranged from $18 to $29 to $48 for two bulbs. They were all
the same wattage, and will all fit into the same size composite headlight
hole.

Pretty clearly they were not HID's but You might look into some
info on exactly what the specs are for those type bulbs. I have the
feeling that they are brighter than stock, but so far I have no other
meaningful info on them.-Bob

I can see perfectly now, I would just like my bulbs to either be a white or or white w/ a slight blue tinge. I'm not concerned really about the shorter life, but I dont want to blind other drivers with bullshit either.

For bulbs, I am hearing that Osram makes a quality product. I am interested in the ballast kits from DDM Tuning, but would like some more information from anyone on this forum with experience. From everything I have read online, the reviews are mostly positive.
