You'd be hard-pressed to find a Teg in serviceable shape for that kind of money. I'm not saying they don't exist, but anything in that price range will have some problems which may be too complicated or too expensive for you to fix. Particularly for a young guy new to cars.

My advice? Avoid the Mitsu and pick up a Civic EG 92-95. They can be had in sedan, coupe, or hatch form, are cheap to run, cheap to fix and are a dime a dozen. For that price you can get an EG that is stock or near-stock that you can cut your teeth on. Add about another grand to that and you might be able to get one that is already boosted or built up. I wouldn't recommend a car that's been modded since you are a new driver and modded cars will break to some extent.

Buy it cheap, keep it stock, work on your driving, study the forums for info and modifications and just take it easy.

Not looking for any kind if Honda lol, have my mind set on a Teggy, and only reason why I want a 4 door is because I know how much a pain it is for the seat, and I "heard" the insurance is cheaper for the sedan in comparison to the coupe

^If your under 25 your insurance will not be cheap no matter what you drive. Just think if you buy a car and not be able to afford insurance because you have to constantly throw money at fixing the car. Just get something stock/reliable/good on gas /

You dont have to worry about the difference between the coupe and sedan, your insurance rates will be through the roof anyway.

Acura = Honda. Your Acura Integra is a Honda Integra in Japan. Acura only exist in North America to fool us dumbass Americans into paying more.

Ummm? There are quite a few people on the forums that would disagree with this un-supported statement.

PRnorthsider, you seem like a smart enough individual and can take criticism well.

My advice to you is go ahead and by the 4-door teg since it's what you really want and life is too short not to do what you want. I think it would be a great 1st car to own, good on gas, and has the famous Honda reliability. You'll have 4 doors for practical use, it might actually save you a couple bucks on insurance, and it will be less likely to get stolen imo.

If you feel the racing/modding itch, I would make your first mod a set of good tires and join an auto cross event, while at the same time browsing forums dedicated to your car and reading/gaining knowledge on things to do to your car.

Yeah Acura is Honda's luxury brand. Certain Acura cars are one-off and others (like the Integra) borrow heavily from Honda's existing cars. That's why there are so many engine, transmission, and suspension parts that are interchangeable between the Integra and the Civic.

If you can afford it - then by all means go Integra. They're great cars. But rather than listening to what you "heard" from people, research it yourself. Getting a car insurance quote is pretty easy and free so it'll give you a ballpark estimate of what you'll be paying. If I recall when I was your age I was paying around $150 a month for basic (no comp/coll) insurance. This also includes a pretty sizeable "good student" discount that is really worth it - it saves you something like $50/month. Also getting added to your parents' policy is a good way to save money - just cut them a check at the end of the month.
