I'm agreeing with you, a lot of BMW's use a little mount with a rubber bushing inside that that connects the lower control arm to the body under the firewall kind of. Its nicknamed the lollipop bushing, when you see it you will know why its called that. They always fall apart. Its pretty simple to replace and tell if its failing. When it does go out you can actually see the wheel jump forward when the brakes are applied, and if you wait to long to replace it it wears out the rubber and will clunk when you brake...... I did brakes on my neighbors 3 series and informed him that he needed to replace those bushings and he blew it off, a little over a month later he told my wife that he thinks I screwed up doing his brakes and took it to a shop to get it checked out and they told him he needed to replace his lollipop bushings. His face was red lol

Indeed, checking things over should be done everytime your car comes off the ground.

same here, especially when I was working at euro shops. Its a very common problem on BMW's.

Could be missing or degraded bump stops.

Sounds like a bad Johnson rod.
