Default Stupid LSD question.

LSD allows for both wheels to spin.. correct..

Is there any way a NON LSD rear end will burn both tires?

Limited Slip Differential, has clutch packs.. correct?

lsd distributes the power back and forth between the wheels.

so if left tire hops, it will put power to the right side so you dont lose traction.

i think?

yeah.....same as if you lift a wheel.....it'll transfer the power to the wheels that's still on the ground.

so if your able to burn both tires on a flat road, then its not LSD? Its a locker type diff?

Because it would go from each tires back and forth and thus create better take off, but not burn both tires?

Limited slip of any type makes sure that one wheel can't spin without the other wheel attempting to do the same.

Whether its a clutch type, locker, viscous, or the mysterious quaife type that my car uses, if you got the power you will smoke both of your drive wheels with any type of LSD.

Its whether you are on slippery surfaces or trying to turn that the different types have their pros and cons.

But I guess my question is will a open diff spin both wheels?

Is it possible for a one wheel peel to spin both?

Its not impossible, but its pretty rare. If the car is cornering or is a RWD with a solid rear axle then its very unlikely since one drive wheel will be loaded more heavily than the other causing the lighter wheel to spin and the heavy wheel to stay planted.

Check this out. I have a RWD RX7 with independant rear end with 4:10 gears.

Now according to the factory my car did not come with LSD, only certain models came with LSD..

So if the factory is right I have a non LSD that burns both tires, first and second gear.. WTF is going on, or do all independant rears burn both?

I even had to get certain fluid for the rear because it has clutch packs, but yet its non LSD..

All I can say is I do not have to go into reverse to smoke the tires.
