The plug-in electric crossover is based on the same engineering as the Model S sedan, a car that's expected to go into full production this summer, but the Model X rides higher and has front-facing third row seats.

The most eye-catching feature, however is the "falcon wing" back door design. The doors open upwards and bend in the middle so they'll be able to function when parked in a tight space.
The doors also allow an adult to easily access the rear seats while standing up, making it easier to strap small children into booster seats, the company said. Tesla claims it is the largest door opening of any passenger vehicle.

60+k??? Ill take a 20k vehicle and 11,400 gallons of gas instead. At 20 mpg, thats 228,000 miles. I wonder what the electric bill looks like each month.

That being said, its still impressive.

I just don't get it, if you're going to spend that much on a car, why not just get an old prius and save like 50k?

isn't the point of an electric car to save on gas? How long would it take for those 600$ payments and 2000$ electric bills to start saving you money?

tesla is the "higher end" electic vehicle... so it's not aimed towards everyone.
That is why there are the Nissan LEAF, New 100% electric Prius, ect..

Tesla's whole business model sucks.

Electric sports cars? Yeah right. Let me know how the automotive community/enthusiasts react to that.

Tesla's goal is to sell EVs to mainstream consumers at more affordable prices—but Tesla purposely aimed its first production vehicle at "early adopters" so that the company could optimize the technology before cascading it down to less expensive vehicles.

Like stated before, they are working on becoming more mainstream, and they have actually been starting to turn a profit, and they are sold out until March.
