Default How does someone go about trading cars?

Simple but yet complicated question.I'm in a position to trade my car for another.How abouts to work the title as there is no cash exchanging hands?Do I still pay tax?How do we fill out our titles?What do I do once it's all over?Do I have to pay to register it all over again??

Usually you just sign the title as if it were to be sold for a little amount , there fore not paying too much taxes . then register it all over again!

What amount? Does the DMV get pissed when you buy a 2000 Civic for 100 bucks?

Sell em to eachother for a dollar. If questioned, explain the situation. You can sell your car for as much as you want. It might be easier if you did the title swap at the tax collectors office though.

Write "even exchange". I have never had a problem or anyone question it at the DMV.

DO NOT DO THIS
If the car is less than 10 years old and you put an amount to little, they will ask for proof. Happened to me. Simply put TRADE. I do this for everything even when doing cash. They might ask what you traded, you can tell them anything! I've told them work, speakers, xbox, etc. They don't ask for the value of it.

Experience = 30+ vehicles and I'm 22.
