If I ever have about $2K to blow I would like to build a mount in my car where i could put a mini laptop and do something similar.
There are some very nice VB instrumentation software packages out there that would make it easy to create the appropriate guage displays so the only other required component would be a multi-channel A/D converter plugged into a serial port of the computer at one end and tapped into the sensor inputs on the other.
Someday . . .
