Putting 8.1 liter vortex in old chevy
8.1 liter vortec in older carbed chevy?
I don't know shit about chevy. I need info on mounting wiring, what tranny I can use with this engine. I want to put it in a c10 flare side. Thanks dudes.
Please don't move this thread to gm tech. Who ever did that must not understand tamparacing very well, no one posts on gm tech. You Know why tamparacing is so dead now? Because you fuckers over moderate the fuck outta this shit. Thanks.

pretty much everything I was finding about it was along the lines of...
It is a factory, heavy truck motor. Cast iron crank. Strictly a low rpm workhorse. It is based in the latest series of big blocks, with their cooling and oiling differences, one piece rear main seal. As built, there is nothing hi-performance about it. Heads are small port truck.. But, those glorious cubic inches! Add some hot rod parts and you should have a real stump puller..
decent little thread about it
8.1L 496 vortec big block chevy, what is it?
I just want to run it stock, maybe run a low psi turbo setup on it for bit more top end. I don't intend on it being anything super fast, just kind of a cool resto mod.
