I don't drive a Toyota, but having gone to the First Anniversary Toyota Styles BBQ last year at the Water Tower Park near Sulfur Springs, I was looking forward to seeing some cars and some people I had not seen for a while. Last year there were some innovative car modication ideas and I expected to see some more this year. Last year it was freezing cold and we had fires built in some barrels. This year it was in the 80's and the sun felt goooood.

This was a great event. Good turnout. Variety of cars. Not all of them were imported. Several clubs. Prior commitments made me late arriving at University Mall, and I had to look for a parking space, but you and your crew did things really right. When people came in, they were facing the registration area first off and the other entrances were blocked off to limit access from the general public. Cars coming into the mall were parking and people were walking over to look at the show.

Several clubs had their own tent to keep the sun off their chairs. Lots of folks in Toyota Styles do things as a family and bring their kids to car meets just like they did for last years First Anniversary meet. I like the idea of parents doing stuff with their kids and getting them interested in cars at an early age. There was a special kids area roped off between Firestone and Fowler Avenue. That got the little kids off to the side into a "no-cars" safe area and gave a break to people who wanted to be "kid-free" for a few minutes. I recognized some cars driven in from as far away as Orlando.
There were some cars I had not seen before.

I counted a couple dozen donated trophies on the table and I saw so many good looking cars, I was glad I didn't have the job of judging them.

When I walked up to the concession area, the food was being cooked over a huge gas grill and it smelled so good I paid for "the works" right away and since I arrived late I was hoping there was still something left.........WOW!
Was I surprised.

The food was really good and there was plenty of it. Doris said "the $5 works" meant that I could help myself to anything on the table and I did. The pulled pork started from one side of the plate, rotated next to it was the fried rice and I piled on plenty of baked beans with bacon strips. On top of that was macaroni and cheese and the grilled burger sat on top of all that. There were plenty of other dishes. Cassaroles, two kinds of meat balls, desserts,..........and the plate was too small......

It was all home-cooked, which is of real interest to a single guy like me. This was the best food deal in town!
...........and the car show was pretty good too......LOL..... I had a great time looking at the cars. Friendly people........nice cars..........pat yourself on the back......and your crew also. People who don't put on an event don't realize how much work there is to it........I need to arrive early next time........-Bob

This forum is dealing with general car chat and going to car meets is related
to cars and part of the car culture.

More like giving encouragement and credit where credit is due.
It takes a lot of work to put on a meet and car show combined.
I mentioned the name of the organizer so that people who read this will know the person
who was in charge, since most of the meets that I go to require more work than people realize and people deserve credit for the hard work which they do.

I see too many people who are criticising and complaining all the time
about something, and they NEVER tell you they had a good time at anything.
You can tell by the number of views that there are a number of people who have read this post and my imagination says that some of them are among the complainers.

For people who don't go to meets, my post publicises one that I went to
that was mentioned in TR's Local Events, as a way of encouraging more people to
get involved in the fun of our hobby/sport.

For someone who has not yet put on a meet or car show, it gives them a few
ideas/tips/pointers of some things that a well run meet had, as far as organization, and
some of those ideas may be useful when they, themselves decide to organize a meet.

It was a busy weekend for all of us and I missed seeing you there John.

Yes this is a forum. This forum is also for General Car Chat, specifically Talk about cars in general. All makes and models - strictly car discussion. This is not the Meets/Events forum. You post in the wrong spot all the time. Do you know why threads with just videos get moved from here to Video Post? Because they don't follow the guidelines of this specific forum. Don't try to say that you want more traffic so you post here. We have a meet forum, use it.

Are you really that childish that you post without contributing and without understanding a single damn thing in this thread? The only person that was owned was you, for ever coming on TR to post. Now you go around trying to take cheap shots because we ran you out of here like a puppy with his tail between his legs.
