Drift session FL
OK guys... i know that we dont have any local drift clubs... you try to drift in florida and you are stuck with limited sliding at local auto-x's on small courses.
Down in fort myers we have buckingham field... its almost 3 sq miles of flat pavement. that is used for our local autocross....... We get courses with speeds of over 70 MPH. there is plenty of room for drift courses with speeds between 45-60 mph... if anyone is interested PLEASE POST HERE.... i am going to print out this page and give it to Dave Hutter who is the organizer of Gulfcoast Autocrossers with our proposal.... i will also show him several videos from Drift Session and some other websites about what drifting is... and take him out in my S13 and show him examples of most of the types of drifts.... Anyhow if you have any proposals then PLEASE send him but this is what i propose..
1. Drifting starts at 10AM with registration and car check starting as early as 8AM.. there will be a school at one end of the facility run by an expert drifter from 10-12 or 1 PM .... at that time we break for lunch and afterwords we contionue till about 4 PM and shut down...
2. Entrance fees will be $15 or so per person which INCLUDES ALL U CAN EAT BARBACUE LUNCH.....
3. It will be the second weekend of each month (unless dave has a different propsal)
4. Cars will go through SCCA inspection and meet the rules and regulations of Gulf Coast Autocrossers, waivers will have to be signed for all attending, either watching or racing (this will be the standard GCA waiver)
5. All participants will help and do course work at some time during the day so we can all get time to drift...
Usually at GCA test and tunes (which i am following their saturday test and tune schedule for our events) you willget sometimes 20 runs through the 3/4 mile course.... we could design the courses specifically for drifting making 2-3-4 point combo turns even... anyhow please post with your suggestions and place your names so we have kinda a Petition to give Mr. Hutter.
Drift on,
Mike Hammer
