^again the name calling when you are the one that said "compete" not me....so looks like you are the idiot. And you still fail to see that the oil embargo you speak of wasn't even a thought at the time of release of this car.

You get mad at me yet I am simply re-telling what history has already shown so don't get mad at me.

I think that name will be known for luxury within the end of this decade. Hyundai as come a long way.

That is NOT what Honda did so thank you for proving my point for me. Honda did not come in and try to compete with the American V8's or any performance car to start out with. they did exactly as I stated in my first post and continue to state, they started with affordable reliable cars and gave them rediculous warranties to entice buyers. Then when people found out that they run forever and are great product for the $$ Honda started to increase the ammenties/luxuries/performance /prices of their cars and moved into the mainstream. <----What Hyundai is doing NOW!

Thank you you once again for proving my point though I appreciate the help

---And this is Honda's 1st car in the USA in 1967.....over SIX years before the oil embargo that caused the gas hike you speak of. Again, Facts...they are littered throughout History.

Definitely not made to compete against V8's...
and back then I bet that little wagon got 30+ miles per gallon. Way ahead of it's time.

Luxury? nope. Not even Caddy luxury. Maybe Honda luxury if they come out with something pricey that doesn't look like shit. Their most expensive model looks like they grabbed an old plan from like 5-10 years back.

I have yet to see one on the road. Don't know when they came out though.

Nissans first car in the USA....Sold of course as a Datsun because their business model was different than Honda's...further proving my point.

Looks like they ripped off a Vette.

Honda = luxury ? In what world ? LOL. Price doesn't automatically mean it's luxury. Hyundai are reaching out to people who drive luxury vehicles. Lexus, BMW, and so on. They're not trying to compete with companies like Honda, Chevy, Subaru.

That was my point. They are not luxury cars.

They can reach all they want, but they made this:

Its not going to happen any time soon. As long as your grandma is still rocking these, they'll be known for these cars.

We can mention every car company here and what they made in the past that was crappy, but we wont. They make these and if you see their commercials from the past few years they were reaching out to Lexus, BMW, Benz owners. They even mentioned those companies and were comparing cars. Hyundai's line up for 2010 and 2011 are very very nice. They have grown in the past 5-6 years. They aren't a shitty company anymore.
