Default mazda swaps??

so im on my way out to the coliseum last friday on ulmerton (BTW: great club, upscale, packed with beautiful ppl, good music, and no bullshit) and i see this white early 90's protege speeding through traffic. While he is driving like an idiot, i notice he pretty f'in fast. i catch him at a light and ask what hes got. His reply is "all motor." To my knowlege proteges came with like 115hp motors, so i said "its swapped right?" and then he said "dont worry about it" and ripped ass through the green light.

seriously looked to be about a 13 to high 12 second car.

anybody know about this swap? or whats done?

If it was an early 90s protege I would say he might of had a bpt swap but you said he was N/A so I'm guessing he might have the KL-ZE swap. It's a V6 from Japan that makes 210hp stock and are very good for tuning.

Early Proteges came with 125 hp and 114lb-ft of torque. Put one on a dyno and it'll read ~105whp and 105 lb-ft at the wheels.

Easy swaps are the KL03 or KLZE V6s or the BPT turbo 4 cylinder. An all motor BP (the stock motor designation) *could* get into the range of 200whp if you want to spend the money.

They arent that great for tuning (injectors are sidefeeds) .....especially in swap form since bolt on stuff like headers wont fit the car...

Cams are the way to. 200whp wouldnt be hard at all...and remember its going to have 180 lbft with that, and on a car thats ~2500 lbs. It'll be FAST.
