Nahh that bap bap shit dont get me pissed...its sound of performance...that no other engine can make this sound ..its unique..Yeah its funny on how much power gain you get just by making 4 holes bigger..lol..
Ok here it goes...the 12A and 13B is the same size in width..most of the other houings are about the same size besides the rotor housings..the 2 aluminum ones..the are just a little thicker...
A FI engine looks bigger cause..you have a 2 peiced intake system on the FI modles..one peice on the rotor houings sides..then the second peice where it connects to the lower intake...then connects to the throttle body...
Of course the 13 FI will have more electrical wires than a 12A carbed..2 injectors../and under the throttle body ...you have alot of vacumes..
A 12A has a distribitor cap...and 13B dont...BUT you can drop a 12A distribitor set up in your 13B..A 13b still has 4 plugs like a 12A 2 trailing/2 leading...alternator mounts in about the same spot..oil filler tube on the same side...as the 12A..12A dont have a ECM so that cuts down on wiring to the engine bay..
If you strip down both the 12a and 13b and run a carb they look the same...I was just looking for pics and couldnt find any fast..BUT if you got 2 of these engines side by side stripped down with carb and intake with the same set up...they would look the same ..untill you see the Mazda 12A or Mazda 13B printed on the rotor housings..
I dunno if this answered you in anyways...You see more on the FI 13b set up cause its a 2 peice intake with throttle body..injectors..and wiring for all of that and a ECM ..which the carb set up dont have ..

I understand, I was just asking because when you look under the hood of...say a stock 2n or 3rd g rx7 you see alot of shit, but when you look under the hood of one those fast ass rotaries at BMP all you see is this little engine the looks no bigger than a 16 horse briggs&stration. Thanks for explaining.

The 3rd gen (FD) RX7 has sequentual Turbos..that makes the engine look alot bigger...
Heres a pic of a local guy from St Pete...he goes to Sunshine..Lakeland..Gainsville...and im not sure about BMP...he has a 13B set up...
How about having your ass handed to you with this 1.3L last time I taled to him ..he ran a 6.7 @ Sunshine he didnt sound to happy..so I guess it wasnt good for him...

In my opinion yes...
Now finding the people to build it ,to your needs is the thing...
Scott @Mazsport (from what I heard) will not mess with any first gens anymore..hes more into road racing anyways...
Jeff @Maztech is more into the manufacture specs..He wont port..and probally will send you to Scott..
Now theres a guy In St Pete,Largo names Hector he has a shop called HF Motorworks...hes on 4226 54th ave North St Pete...
He is a good guy and will talk with you and teach you things you never thought was possible...Hes a SCCA racer with a first gen that has a 13B in it..he also makes his own parts..or has them made for him...Roll Cages,FT Upper strut bar,Caster/Camber plates..and alot of other goodies..
That are hard to find for the First gens..
He deals with alot of know makers of First gen racing parts..
Here is some I run...and he can get a hold of ..
www.racingbeat.com
Go click on the rotors..then go to the first gen section/79-85
Also go here and read on porting....
You will see how much hp you get just by opening 6 holes bigger...4 intakes...2 exhast..
