RIP: the "farm truck"
some of you lakeland members may remember the old raddy truck that hauled ass. well, it finally lost its battle with cancer (aka rust) and has been put to rest. here is how it currently sits

so now that it is safe to say it will never be out on the streets again, I can come clean about the setup in the truck. I'm sure everyone figured out it wasn't a 307 with an exhaust leak as was told before. in actuality it was a 69 Olds 455 bored .030 over, all forged bottom end, 10.5:1 compression, reproduction w-30 cam, "J" heads, ported and polished, 2.00/1.70 valves, offenhashared_user highrise intake, long tube headers. engine made 465 hp and 550 ftlbs of torque. it was backed by a built turbo 350 trans with a 12 bolt posi rear with 3.73 gears. although all the runs made that everyone knows were done with the old 3.08 open diff rear which required very gentle launches and feathering the gas up until abou 70 mph. flooring it below that resulted in overwhelming tire spin
so now what? well, the 455 has been sold. but all the other parts are being transplanted into a new project, the farm truck 2. again going with an Oldsmobile power plant. but with a few twists. the new truck is shorter, lighter, and not nearly as rusty. here's a look at how it started out.

looks much different already, and hopefully within a couple more months will be driveable. so just giving everyone a heads up, and to look for the new truck in the near future

i was able to dig up a couple of pics of the truck in it's heyday. motor is dirty in the pics but for a daily driver with no inner fenders what can you expect?

and here is the new motor. considerably smaller, but still plenty capable of handling what I will want from it, for now

and just for a size comparison, here's the new motor with an eaton M90 case sitting on top. I think I will need a little bit bigger one. or 2 of these. keep in mind the 455 was physically much taller and wider than this motor is

I do like the truck in your sig...73 through 79 are my favorite body styles. the 67-72 come in second for some reason.

yeah that was my 73. bagged, bodydropped and fully shaved. it was built for looks, but still had a warmed over 355 and 700r4 to motivate it. had a painted frame and suspension, sheetmetal firewall, and full custom interior. had to sell it last year when I ran into some money troubles. it's in miami now. honestly I hated that bosystyle until I got that truck. then I started to like it. personally I have always wanted a shortbed 67-68 so I finally got one

interesting, any mention of this truck before prompted pages worth of insults and unfounded speculation. now, no one has anything to say about it now that the truth has come out about it.
