No, I'm not actually defending him. I just think you guys are being total assholes. I've been in the scene and working on cars a long time. I've seen a lot of styles come and go, and seen tastes change. Mine have changed a lot over the years too. Biggest thing I've learned is everyone likes something different and you are never going to make everyone happy so you shouldn't try. You can only try to make yourself happy. Sure, you might end up making something tasteless, but sometimes you just have to learn on your own. The best thing to do if you don't like their car is be diplomatic. Comment on something they've done that looks good and then offer advice on something not so good or that they could have done better.

Anyway, you shouldn't mention "brotherhood of shitty products" and E30's in the same sentence. Some people might find that ironic.

I'll just throw my 2 cents in here. Those cars were decent family cars in the day and I know that they can be made fast however...that really means nothing in a "show" car. That being said, if you you really look at "show"details, the interior being redone is nice, but the reason average car makers have lots of smaller sections in their seats like the multiple rolls in the center sections of these is because it is WAY cheaper than 1 large skin that covers the entire area. If you really want to redo an interior you take out as many seams as possible and cover largest areas possible with 1 piece and no "break up" seams. In addition, the redone steering wheel is not exactly a high end job...it looks sloppy still.

Personally I can not stand the painted dash either, but that is a personal preference and many judges like it....

Are the door handles grey?? or is that the camera angle? It's the little details like making the door handles match as well, etc, that really set off the interior.

Second, E30's are some of the better old school cars made. Hands down. It's ten times better than that family sedan you're trying to make fast. Sorry, but E30's will always be better no matter what.
